Matteo Ragni was born in Milan in 1972. He gained a degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan and since 1994 has conducted his design work in a wide range of industrial and artisanal contexts, with a particular focus on design aimed at combining functionality with typological innovation. He’s worked for many companies, often combining his design activities with the role of creative director to create perfectly synchronized communication and production systems. His relationships with Italian and international producers have enabled him to develop a modus operandi that conforms to the DNA and history of each individual brand, in the belief that this is the only ethical approach a designer can possibly take to bring about genuine evolution. He has received a number of prestigious awards over the years, including the ADI Compasso d’Oro (2001, 2014), the Wallpaper Design Award (2008), the Premio dei Premi (the President of the Italian Republic’s award for innovation-2012), and the Good Design Award (2015, 2021). Alongside his work as adesigner, he lectures at several Italian and international universities, and is also an artdirector and architect.
